Do you believe in Astrology?
I had never thought much about it until I discovered Maren Altman’s light hearted tiktoks a year ago, shortly before she became famous for exactly predicting the outcome of the 2020 US election - complete with Donald’s trump refusal to accept the results and the ensuing mayhem.
Once you’ve seen that, it’s hard not to think that there is indeed something to astrology. I became Maren’s dedicated follower and eventually joined her astrology class - hoping to one day make sense of it all myself.
But Maren didn’t stop here. Her background in philosophy and the current state of the world led her to commit to finance and crypto currencies.
This promptly made her persona non grata in the woke community that she had until then been a part of.
Actually, scratch that. “Persona non grata” is way too cute to refer to a tsunami of death threats and a literal mob at her door.
One can’t help but think of Hypatia, the first known female astrologer and philosopher, killed by an angry Christian mob in 415 AD.
And, like Hypatia, Maren has deep insights into the world and its fate.
She is a visionary who, at age 23, can point you to things you’ve never even thought of before.
She has quickly become one of the people who has most influenced me in recent years - and not just me, considering her massive following on all social media. Over 100k on Instagram and YouTube, and over 1 million(!) on TikTok.
I’m delighted and proud to have her as the second guest in my new podcast, Cultural Fluency.
