Why I created French Fluency and the Accelerator:

Have you ever dropped out of a French class because it wasn’t well suited for you?

For 12 years, I taught French just like other teachers do.

When I taught adult students, I wondered why most of them would hardly learn anything and just drop out. Was it me? Was I doing something wrong?  (spoiler: I was!)

I asked my colleagues about it and they said it was normal. It was the same for them. I shall not worry about it.

Yet, I did worry about it. 

You see, I’m a polyglot, I have learned five languages to Fluency myself - and I wasn’t able to helps students learn even just one.
I was not going to settle for this.

What did I do differently for myself that I wasn’t replicating in the classroom? 
In short, what makes a polyglot?

As it turns out, I was doing *everything* differently. I was surrounding myself with the language and grabbing every opportunity to speak and express what truly matters to me, whether it was in German because I live in Austria or in English, Spanish, Portuguese or Esperanto so I could connect with my friends and travel the world.

I didn’t take a weekly class where I listened to someone reading from a book about things that don’t matter, and then forgot all about it for the rest of the week. This is the recipe for failure. And most teachers don’t know it and/or don’t care. They just think it’s normal and that’s how things are.

That was the moment when I decided to focus on helping students get actual results for the rest of my career. I became a French learning coach because a coach’s job is to get you the results that you want. Not to read a book to you until you are so bored you fall asleep (although maybe a sleeping coach could do that).

The truth is, you cannot learn French by reading a book. Learning French means undergoing a transformation. You are a non-French speaker and you need to become a French speaker. It requires new mental models, new habits and a new vision of yourself. Not just new words and grammar rules.

My role as your coach, with your full cooperation, is to make this transformation happen, as soon as it gets.
